KARINA EL AZEM
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1970. Studied at National University for the Arts in Buenos Aires, graduating in 1992.
She was declared an “Outstanding Personality of Culture” by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires in 2022.
A recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant recipient, she has been an Artist in Residence at Art/Omi in New York, Braziers in Oxford and Wasla in Sinai, Egypt.
She currently lives in Buenos Aires.
Her works are included in major public collections, including MOLAA Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, California; National Museum of Fine Arts; MAMBA [Museum of Modern Art Buenos Aires]; Amalia Lacroze De Fortabat Collection; MUNTREF [Museum of the National University of Tres de Febrero], MAC Museum of Contemporary Art Salta; MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art Rosario; Francis J. She has been featured in more than 20 solo shows such as MUNTREF, Museo de la Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero, (Buenos Aires), MEC, Museo Emilio Caraffa, Cordoba, (Argentina) Fundación Migliorisi, Museo del Barro (Asunción del Paraguay), Centro Cultural Sao Paulo (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Galería Nara Roesler (Sao Paulo, Brazil 2001, 1999), Galería Ruth Benzacar, Consulate of Argentina in New York, and Centro Cultural Recoleta (2012 Una Certeza Persiste [A Certainty Persists], Sala J, 2001; Sala Epson, 1997; Sala 10).
